New high-def set-top box; missing channels

I installed and activated a new high-def set-top box today.  It works fine, but only gives me four channels -- the traditional ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS.  If I enter any other channel, the system gives me these two messages:

1.  Press OK to find out if this channel is part of your package.

(I do.)

2.  Our Rcords indicate that you already have the required package.  Programming should be available shortly.

My question: How soon is "shortly"?
