Re: Removed Channels Keep Reappearing on Favorites List

Anyone have a solution for this?  I was replacing our TV, and this necessitated unplugging the power from the STB.  When we turned everything back on, it had downloaded new software and was asking me for my preferences for screen size.  It then got stuck on that, so I pulled the plug and restarted.

 

Everything seems to work, but Favorites 2 is hosed now.  Stuff not adding, random stuff being added, remove-all not working etc.  To make it worse, we used Favorites 2 for the  KIDS' CHANNELS. Now it's filled with all sorts of inappropriate channels I dont' want them to see!

Looks like that is probably just an update bug. It's not uncommon for something to be overlooked in a new update. I'm sure they will fix it soon.

 For the past month or so every time I try to watch live TV on my iPad or phone using the VerizonTV app, it says that I am out of home and do not have access to saved DVR programs or most of the TV channels for live streaming. I have followed all of the suggestions on the knowledge based topics and none of them have worked. I opened a ticket about three weeks ago and got a response from Verizon that said there was a problem with my backend WAN IP address  and that they were escalating it to their network ream. After two weeks I sent them a response email asking if there had been any progress, but I haven’t heard back.  I sent another follow up email a few days ago and got a vague response about waiting for an update for the app. There hasn’t been an update for about a month. Has anyone else had this problem? And has anyone else found a solution?

You can only watch DVR content on the app, it is not available on a PC at all.

Regarding the app service you are paying for that is not working properly: Some would rather you take any frustrating experiences back to the closed-doors of the maddening maze of customer support bureacracy, That may be because the TV app, newly refreshed last spring, is embarrasingly plagued with this and other chronic glitches. Your problem is a recurring problem without an easy solution that continues to plague Verizon fios customers. So please continue to post here on your progress since it might inform/assist 1) any Verizon techie honchos should they dare lurk here, as well as 2) other customers who have been similarly failed by customer support.

Sounds like there are other issues. Could be the box, ONT, or wiring. I would schedule a tech to come out.

Having same issue. Cant even restart. Bought an entire series and it just stops about 15 min before end of each episode. Did you get any answers?

First I have to say that the Philadelphia-area tech I spoke with at length about this issue was incredibly helpful and patient as we tried to resolve this, although not successfully. But he said that since I don't have an STB there was only so much he could see at his end other than to tell me that the combined Verizon signal at my OTN was good. All lights on the OTN are normal.

 

My internet service is fine, but my paid "Fios TV Local Service," which worked fine Saturday night 9/15, was completely gone on Sunday morning 9/16 and is still not working. The tech I spoke to and I did trouble-shooting on everything we could think of, even going so far as to connect just one TV with a short coaxial cable I know is good directly from the TV's cable input to the OTN's coaxial output, with no splitters at all, just to try to find some kind of TV signal. After letting the TV re-scan for channels there are still no channels found. So it appears that the TV signal is gone or so weak that the TV can't lock onto any channels.

 

My technical knowledge about this is limited but if I understand correctly, the internet and TV data are actually on different bandwidths but combined on the same fiber optic cable coming into the OTN  and then separated by the splitter Verizon installed when they installed the OTN several years ago. But as I said there is no TV signal even directly out of the OTN. So is it possible that the internet data is good but the TV data is currently down or at least very weak, and that the tech can’t see that because I don’t have an STB? If a paid for a Verizon tech to come out, would be able to diagnose and correct this? Is it possible something went bad in the OTN?

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I can be patient and wait a few days for the TV service to magically reappear, but after that I will probably drop it and just use a rooftop antenna instead. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Does Fios allow any other means of streaming their TV lineup? Do you have to rent the boxes?

I had the problem a while back.

Rebooting my router and VMS seems to have cleared it.

Have you tried that?

If it isn't carried, you can only watch it with an antenna on your TV.

You can also use a cable card compatible device with a rented cable card.

Just switched to Fios yesterday from xfinity.   Poor picture quality on all channels on Sony 940e and lg oled.  Fios tech support said problem with hardware set top box and 4K TVs. No eta on fix.   Going back to x1 tomorrow will suffer through some pixelation.   At least I will have better channel selection,  better menu guides, better remote with voice and will control sound bars.  May keep Fios internet.

How do I set up a recording in FIOS for a show/series that does not yet appear in the TV Listings?  Coming from Tivo where you set a wish list and it automatically records.
