They do have a 7100 p2 and its smaller, all black,and no high pitch sound but no display. They have vms and ip clients but you have to upgrade to enhanced dvr. Ask for a 7100p2.

Not sure that you would get these days as all the 7xxx models are now old. None of the non-dvr should produce high pitch sounds, but obviously a failing STB could. A dvr's disk can sometime be heard.

Regretably they normally charge for replacing a bad remote these days. Problem was caused by people requesting multiple replacements and just turn around and selling them on Ebay.
