ONT wired to fuse box?

$

We have a backup generator (lithium battery) that we use during power outages. We can keep our router powered up but the ONT doesn't have a conventional cord to plug into an outlet. It appears to be connected to the same wire going to the fuse box (see photos).

Is this something we'd have to have a Verizon technician change and would it be a major hassle? It would be nice to be able to have the ONT provide the FIOS interent plugged into our generator during a power outage.WP_20180908_14_18_34_Pro_LI.jpgWP_20180908_14_18_42_Pro_LI.jpg

That wire is the ground wire not the power wire. The thicker beige wire which is the second one from the left is the power wire.

Trace out that wire to see where is goes and there will be a battery backup and/or power supply unit which plug into a standard receptacle.

TV One and home DVR setup?

I have the FIOS Triple Play but I use a cable card and my own home-made DVR setup.

I have had bad luck in the past with paying monthly rental fee for a STB and another monthly fee for DVR, only to have a STB fail and when it was returned to Verizon, so were the DVR recordings I couldn't get back - lost records and lost DVR rental fees.

So, I dumped the STB and DVR services and made my own - Desktop PC with Windows 7 running Windows Media Center, cable card in a Silicondust Prime box, and a four-bay RAID box connected via USB 3 to the desktop PC.  No monthly fees to Verizon, and if the desktop box fails or a drive in the RAID box fails, I just need to replace either, but none of the recorded shows get lost.

And, overall, I save money.

How do things play out these days with TV One for DVR setup these days?

Thank you.

Will be pretty much the same I believe. TV One with enhanced dvr is $20. And 12 for each additional client. So with a 3 TV setup up will be $56 in equipment charges. If the hard drive on DVR fails or the box has to be replaced then recordings will be lost.

Has this been resolved for anyone?  Have had this issue for Over 2 years without resolution.  Getting ready to pull the plug on Fios.

I got WiFi on Saturday and somehow I lost On Demand... I say it onto the remote and also go to the channel in the guide and nothing appears. I also tried to access Netflix and my screen says I need to have WiFi for it - but I have WiFi... Any suggestions?

When you say that you got “wifi”, what exactly are you referring to? Did you get a new router or a new FiOS service installed?

In addition to the above post can you tell us what hardware you have (both STB and any routers you might be using)?

Can I return my one and only STB and eliminate rental fee while maintaining FIOS TV service?

Most of the channels I'm interested in have Roku apps, so I was thinking I might return Verizon's STB and eliminate the monthly rental fee. It's the only STB I have and I was wondering if the standard FIOS contract requires customer to keep and pay rental fee for at least one STB.

I still have over a year on my FIOS contract, and I do want to maintain FIOS TV service (which I use to access my desired channels via Roku).

I believe you can use a cable card and eliminate the set top box.

if you are under contract Verizon may mess with your services and may increase pricing etc. I believe there is a fee for cable card use.

Unfortunately, Verizon only offers the local channels without paying for either a STB or cable card.
Cable cards are cheaper. Not sure what happens if you rent the cable card but do not activate it in a device.

How to delete DVR folder

We have the new wireless box and remote. How do you delete an entire DVR folder so that you can delete multiple recordings at once?

The old remote had button C at the bottom which allowed you to delete a folder, but the same button is not on the new remote.

Thanks for the suggestion! Going to try swapping boxes to see if we get the same result.

Mine has been acting up for longer than I can remember. It acts up on many channels and also HULU when I tried that. I started getting serious with Verizon in October 2018. Since then, I, had the set top box replaced 3 times, the router was replaced, the Optical Network Terminal replaced, the Battery Backup Unit was eliminated and the Power Supply Unit was replaced. I replaced the splitter then Verizon replaced it too. Before that, I ran all new coax cable throughout and replaced the TV. The most common suggestion I've gotten was "Let's upgrade the set top box" (at an additional cost of $60 per month) and see if it helps (no guarantee).

Anyway to keep VMS4100 on at all times?

Is there a setting on new vms4100 (vms 4100) that allows me to keep STB on at all times?  Currently when I turn off my Sony, the STB powers off automatically.  I can’t find a setting.  This is very problematic Bc I have a brother in Japan who uses sling box (slingbox) and he can’t make STB stay on or turn on unless my tv is on.  On all other STB, there is a user setting about power management but I can’t find.  Also is there anything on smart tv itself I could togglenso it does not “tell” STB it is off?
