Two Fios TV One Questions (Help please!)
Hi all,
Really want to make the switch from the Legacy Boxes that I have to the new TV One boxes, but I just have 2 questions that will help me greatly. Hoping for some help!
1.) I currently have the legacy 7232 DVRs and 7100 STBs. I read somewhere that the Remote Control that I use on these boxes can also be used on the TV One boxes. (I believe I read that in one of these forums!). I do realize the new remote control on the TV One boxes is Bluetooth, etc. BUT, is this true --- can I use the old remote controls if I wanted? Has anyone actually tried this, and knows for a fact that this works?
2.) In my home, we currently have 2 DVRs. (Two 7232 DVRs). With the Multi Room DVR functionality, each DVR has its own recording space and capacity. AND, we can access either of these 2 DVRs from any other STB/DVR in the household. (On the DVR Menu, you can choose either DVR "A" or DVR "B", and view the recordings on each). IF I were to get 2 DVRs on this new TV One Equipment, can I replicate this setup? Will it remain the same?
The answer to this one is going to help me determine whether I switch or not. I need that functionality! Does anyone use this setup, and can vouch that this is, in fact, the case?

Yes the new stbs support the old remote. Bluetooth is for the voice remote.
My understanding is that recordings are separate sections.

Skip Backwards disabled on One TV?
Set up a Harmony remote for the Arris boxes and all commands work except skip backwards 10 seconds.
That option still shows up in the FIOS settings menu, along with skip forward 30 seconds. Skip forward works, but skip backwards doesn’t.
Any suggestions?

Fios TV One STBs
Now a "new" Fios customer (a.k.a. made a new account under a new name to get the deals new customers do and long-time loyal customers do not.) This installation comes with their new implementation of wireless STB's. The problem is, now how does this work if I want to use my own router as primary? Is Verizon's Quantum Gateway G1100 now required to be the primary? Or is there a set of steps that someone can list in order to make your own router the primary and still be able to keep everything running smoothly such as the guide and OnDemand? Don't care much about caller ID.

You must have their router for tv service unless you are using a MOCA adapter and a splitter to use the set top box. You must use their set top box in order to use the wireless connection to other fios one tv boxes. I have read the new boxes are not that good. Connection and voice problems and boxes that lose connections etc.
but your mileage may vary.

I have read you need Verizon router to activate.
After that, you can use your own router (there is a thread on how to do it).
You will lose ability to connect remote stbs via WiFi but they also vwork via coax or Ethernet.

Need help in connecting a Panasonic DVD/VHS player to ARRIS VMS4100
Good evening,
I switched to FIOS over the weekend and the tech connected my TV and Panasonic DVD/VHS recorder in a chain. After he was done, I was able to play DVD's and VHS tapes using my Panasonic recorder by switching the tv input from HDMI to "TV" or "VHS" (I have a Sony Bravia tv set). However, I am unable to record anything onto DVD or VHS tape. Any suggestions? Thank You as I'm brand new to FIOS.

Unable to use Chromecast with Fios TV app to play DVR recordings or live TV
My Chromecast unit is properly configured on my phone and both ot them are successfully connected to my Fios router WiFi. I launch the Fios TV app on my phone and select "My Stuff". I then select one of my recorded programs and select the "Play on..." button, but it automatically started playing the recording on my TV where my Fios DVR/Receiver is connect to instead of offering me the option to select my Chromecast unit. I even tried selecting a Live TV program and it did the same thing.
How can I get the Fios TV app to recognized my Chromecast unit and to play my DVR recordings or Live TV?
Yes, the Fios TV app recognizes my phone as being a registered device.

Auto-Tune to HD channels not working
We've always had the Auto-Tune to HD channels function enable on 3 TV's. For example, if you want the HD channel 505, you just have to push "5" and if a corresponding HD channel exists, in this case "505" it will auto tune to the HD channel. The other morning, we noticed Verizon had changed their "Welcome" screen from the Verizon logo to a full screen teaser for movies and videos which cycles through various options available. The other thing we noticed coincident with that was the Auto-Tune to HD channels no longer worked on any of the TV's. I checked the settings and it was still enabled. I disabled and re-enabled the settings, rebooted each STB, and rebooted the router all to no avail. Has anyone else run across this change since the Welcome screen changed? I'm wondering if it's a systemic problem. Thanks........... Dave..........

The FiOS TV app doesn't support Chromecast. It also doesn't support Airplay on Apple TV. They would rather you have a set-top box.

The old cable box you had most likely had a coax out port which the VMS4100 doesn't. You'll probably need two sets of RCA cables (yellow/red/white). One set will go from the VMS4100 RCA outputs to the DVD RCA inputs. Then the DVD RCA outputs will go to the TV's RCA inputs.
Even once connected the VMS4100 might have copyright encryption so you can record onto a DVD but I can't say that for sure.

Changed standby mode to ugly, fullscreen, bright advertisements??
Hello,
So a few days ago I woke up and my box that is usually in standby mode after a few hours of inactivity was instead displaying fullscreen ads for "on demand" videos. When I pressed ok to try and exit, it loaded up more details about the programme. My box now displays these ads instead of going into standby mode.
First off, this change is awful. My box goes into standby mode to SAVE power. The fact Verizon thinks it can just change that and fill it with advertisements is crazy, do you guys not get enough money a month? Either way, this is the last straw for me personally with Verizon and I will be switching to sling in a few months when my contract is up.
I have gone through every option I can find on my TV and can NOT turn these advertisements off. I have googled and found nothing. I finally called to speak to someone who told me to "just turn off the TV when I'm done." which is not a solution. He told me the option may be under set-top box under settings in the menu. I've searched there and turned off everything. There's no option called "set-top box" though, and the guy on the phone insisted there is.
So yeah, how do I get rid of this

It looks like that is a new update. But that is the new stand by mode. So I don't think there is a way to disable it. At least not right now anyway.
